County Fair Memories 2015

hard work pays off

We started our summer building a barn and from the very moment it had a door I knew I had a motto I wanted to remind us of every day. As you enter the barn it says “From humble beginnings come great things” and as you exit it says “Don’t follow your dreams chase them”. I wanted both of these quotes as a constant reminder of where we came from and where we could go.

Fair started with pee-wee showmanship, something we do every year with our youngest daughter and usually a few friends kids as well. This year was no exception, Olivia selected the largest sheep we had and went off to do her thing. The big girls also took some close friends into the ring for their first time.

One of the most important parts of the journey is the people you meet along the way. Lifelong friendships are built, life lessons are learned and often times hard work pays off.

This year was a year of firsts for us. We knew we had a pretty great lamb from the beginning. He was one that knew he was special, caught your eye as soon as you saw him. We’ve never had the experience of winning anything but that changed this year. Chloe won her first show ever with “Ronald Reagan”. I think what made it even more special was her friends. Everyone was so excited for her, many tears were shed. They all did a group shot, the series of photos is so funny to watch how they all interact, such a great group of kids.

Our year of firsts wasn’t over with that! Ally also had the champion market heifer, a heifer we proudly bred and own. Ally was also reserve champion intermediate showman and won her first trophy and belt buckle too. Our summer of hard work paid off and I am so proud of the girls. The countless hours in the barn help build character and teach lessons but most importantly they give us family time and memories to celebrate!

Angie Sandy shares her love for life with her husband and three daughters. She was born and raised in northern Colorado, the same place they raise their girls. As a family they share a passion for all things livestock. They own a small herd of cows they are constantly trying to improve on. They’ve also passed on this love to their kids who enjoy showing 4H lambs, steers and heifers. Aside from these great endeavors she love spending time with her girls, riding horses, growing her budding love of photography and relaxing with friends!
